The following are the critical insights of a 3 1/2-hour focus group of 30 undecided Iowan Democrats (16 women, 14 men, with 15 respondents aged 40 and younger, and 15 aged 41 and older) held on October 12 in Des Moines, Iowa. During the focus group, these undecided voters were not only asked what they thought about each of the candidates, their messages, and positions, but also what they wanted to hear in this first debate. Various speeches, messages, and a series of ads of each were also dial tested based on age and gender.
The 3.5-hour dial focus group was conducted at Revelations Research in Des Moines, Iowa, on Monday October 12, 2015. It was made up of undecided Democratic voters who are likely caucus-goers. No candidate or campaign paid for these focus groups.
